Out of the Box

Hello Loves,

For so long I was afraid to try something different with my style. I was afraid to step out of the box and show people how I love fashion and I love creating pieces in my head.

Summer Lookbook 1

Hello Loves,

I know I've been gone forever, as usual. This summer has been one of the most busiest summers of my life. The first half I was taking classes now I'm working two jobs, and it is a lot. I have been taking some photos, but for some reason just never upload them. Well today is the end to that. I am starting a Summer Lookbook Series, showing you some of the outfits I've been rocking. There haven't been as many as I wished on, but here is what I have. Enjoy :)

Maxi Skirt: Day to Night

Hello Loves,

I hope all has been well. Where have I been you may ask? Well in the past two weeks I finished finals in London, now I'm back home in America and I literally just started summer classes last week. I don't think I am jet-lagged, but boy am I exhausted. It's tough trying to balance 2 summer classes, research, and just trying to live life. Hopefully by next week I will get back into the swing of things, and catch myself up to where I need to be. So the other day I was thinking about how I don't really have any maxi skirts, I think I have one, but when I wore it I really didn't dress it up. So it hit me to just go on Polyvore and see how I can turn a maxi from day to night. Hope you love the little collage :)

Maxi Skirt: Day to Night

Knit top, $23 / F.A.V tall shirt, $30 / Ted Baker pleated maxi skirt / Nude wedge / Topshop shoes / Chanel vintage handbag, $4,740 / Fat Face leather shoulder bag, $69 / GUESS straw hat

Day outfit: Makes me think of a more beachy type. It's for if you are just walking close to the water, and you are not planning on getting wet. It is always breezy by the water so the long sleeves keep you arms warm. Wear Sandals to be comfortable, and the hat to block the sun from your face.

Night Outfit: This can be worn if you are going out to dinner or a night with the girls. The bandeau shirt shoes of your arms and adds a little more appeal. The wedges give you height, but also takes your outfit from a casual to a more dressy.

Hope you enjoyed my post, please comment and follow :)

Sunday's in London - OOTD

Hello Loves,

Here are some OOTD picks from a couple of weeks ago. I was crazy for some of the trends I saw in London and of course I had to follow. I finally wore my leather armed motor jacket and my lovely creepers. I spent my day roaming through the market, spending money on delicious food and admiring the styling work of others. Enjoy :)

London Street Style - Spitalfield Market / Brick Lane

Hello Loves,

So I have been gone for a while as usual. Keeping up with my blog and youtube channel has really been tough. Lately I've been wearing sweaters and leggings, nothing interesting enough for a post. I've also hardly been going anywhere, just boring old uni. This past Sunday I hung out with my friend Makia and we had a lovely time just walking through the markets and taking pics. We walked around Spitalfield Market and Brick Lane, tried bunches of food samples lol. I decided to do my first ever Street Style post. I've seen so many of these on other blogs that I follow and every time I go out, esp on market days, I see outfits that I wish I could take pictures of to maybe try and replicate for myself in the future. It took guts for me to be able to randomly walk up to people and ask to take their pictures for my blog, but it was worth it. I realized that I should def get business cards for my blog so that I can hand them out to get more subscribers and people to see I am really trying to build it up. I hope you enjoy these outfits that I've chosen, and trust these are not the only ones that interested me. For each outfit I listed my favorite piece that if I had the chance to borrow I could lol. Hopefully in the future I can have more street style days, maybe NY in the summer, who knows. So enjoy huns :)

1. Her skirt is definitely a key piece to this outfit. The patterned trim at the bottom with the material makes it pop and it looks amazing.

Hairology Conference

Hello Loves,

So I have been gone an extremely long time. Uni life of course has been ruling my life, and these days seems like nothing really that interesting with fashion has been happening to me, but don't worry give me a couple of months and I will bring this blog to where I've always wanted it to be.

Well a couple of weeks ago, towards the beginning of March, I went to a program entitled Hairology at University College London. It was a conference geared towards Natural Afro- Caribbean featuring trichologist, UK bloggers, and salon stylist. We also received these amazing goodie bags. Overall the event was amazing, I learned so much about my hair, and if you hear of any in your areas you should def go. :)

Here are some pics :)

Window Shoppers

Hello Loves,

I hope your week has been going well. I have been in the middle of reflective week even though I still seem to have lectures on certain days. A couple of weeks ago I took a lovely walk down Piccadilly Circus and Oxford Street. I ended up seeing some of the most amazing stores, that I didn't even know existed. Such as Cheap Monday, lol. I, of course, was a window shopper. The day you go to stores know you have no money to spend, so you end up just walking around browsing at the items. Then you leave embarrassed and empty handed lol, but no need to fret. Window shopping is fun and it saves money. So here are just a couple of pics from some of the stores I browsed. Hope you enjoy :)

Creepers and the Galaxy

Hello Loves,

I know it has been such a long time. These past couple of weeks have been a little hectic, and my brain seemed to have lost creativity when creating my outfits. So I put together this little collage bringing two items I want so badly from my wishlist. These items are a pair of Underground Wedge Creepers and a lovely Galaxy printed dress. I got this idea when reading through the March issue of Company and looking at the pictures from Lianna la Havas' photoshoot. She had on the exact pair of shoes I wanted, which hurts because they are 115 GBP and I don't have that type of money lol. Please if you have not checked her music out, you need to. Her music is amazing, as well as her style. So, I realized that if she can pull it off then so can I, and hopefully one day I might be able too. So I hope you enjoy and I hope these outfits that I have put together give you a little inspiration to try on your own. :)

Creepers and Galaxy

These are the shoes I want :) Aren't they just amazing. I would like the print in brown though. Wishlist :)

Thank you for reading. Please comment and follow :) I will do the same.

Skater Girl vs. Garden Girl

Hello Loves,

Here are a couple of outfits I wore a few weeks back. Hope you enjoy the little I have :)

Skater Girl

Beanie: Claire's / Jean Shirt: The Gap via Mommy's closet/ Jeans: Express via TJ Maxx/ Sneakers: Vans/ Glasses: Ray Bans

Tip: For a more comfortable vibe add a beanie and some Vans. Not only will it make you feel comfortable, but it will add something to your outfit.

Garden Girl

Sweater: American Rag via Macys / Scarf: Spitalfields Market

Tip: For a girly and spring time look, in the winter lol, pair a nice knit sweater with a matching scarf. Put it around your neck or tie around your head for that Garden appeal.

Hope you enjoyed. Read, comment, and subscribe :)

Nubian Beauty Event and Photography Exhibition

Hello Loves,

I know I have been away for quite awhile, these past couple of weeks have really been a hand full. Trying to get used to the hectic Uni life again. So a couple of weeks ago I went to this amazing event in Stratford called the Nubian Beauty Event and Photography Exhibition. I went with my line sister/flatmate/bestie lol and we had an awesome time. We got to see make up and hair demonstrations. We also met some wonderful women, see an amazing performance, and we even won a giveaway. I have to say it was lovely meeting these British Women of color. I hope I get a chance to do more meetups and just interact more with British people as a whole, while I am here. So here's the pictures I hope you enjoy :)

Here is one of the make up tutorials being done.

The VIP Life

Hello Loves,

HAPPY MONDAY. I hope you all had a wonderful start to your week, I know mine was a little tiring, but I ended it with my favorite Strawberries and Cream Frap from Starbucks. So as you know last week I won a contest to have my own VIP area at the Made in Chelsea Party at AQUILA at Proud Camden. I got into the club for FREE and received a cute little goody bag. So a review of the club. I would give it a 5 out of 10. I have never really been a club person because I am really not a fan of the environment. The place was really nice, it used to be an old horse hospital that was redone and now its a club. The VIP areas are actually stables that look pretty awesome of the inside. Now the VIP Party room to me was the worse. It was extremely packed and sweaty. You could hardly walk in better yet dance. Either the number of VIP people needed to be reduced or the room needed to be expanded. The music played in the VIP party room was on point, but due to the amount of people I stayed in the regular section, where the music was okay, just jump up and down music. There was really no versatility. My VIP stable was nice, but I had to share :p At least there was karaoke. Overall, I did have a fun night. It was just nice to finally go out and dance for the first time since I've been to London. Would I ever go to that place again? Most likely not, but hey you never know.

Peplum top: Love Couture / Jeans & Blazer: Forever 21 / Earrings: Urban Outfitters / Bag & Scarf: Primark / Shoes: Office (got on sale 5 GBP)

I Love Motel

Hello Loves,

I have some wonderful news. I am officially a member of the Motel Street Team. Due to my happiness I decided to create two outfits with these jeans that are at the top of my wishlist. Can I say if there is anything I could get right now besides a pair of Jeffries lol would be these jeans. I have wanted them since forever and it would be a happy day when I can have enough money to actually get them. I also have my own code. So if you would like 20% taken off of your complete sale from Motel, who of course Rocks, then type is my code "briaoc" at checkout. Delivery can be made to my US buds as well. Hope you enjoy my code as well as the outfit I put together.

I <3 Motel

Motel crop shirt, $48 / Motel pants, $105 / Motel, $16 / Satchel handbag, $180 / BCBG Max Azria

Tips: For something that really pops out with the stripes add some neon and bright colors to make a real statement. I did a pink corset with a pink/orange purse. For something more edgy and neutral wear a black shear shirt to give appeal, but a classic satchel to neutral it out.

Hope you enjoyed :)

I'm Back ...

Hello Loves,

So it is officially 2013 and life has been hectic, and finally I am able to take some time out of my day to make a post. I still haven't been able to even make my New Year's Resolution, but when I do I will def keep you all informed. I know one resolution that I have so far is to do a minimum of 1 blog post a week. I know sometimes I get really busy and it seems like I push my blog aside, but I really do love this blog. It is a way of me to express a different side to me. I've always been the nerdish brainiac, but guess what I have always loved fashion and style and so many other things as well. So look out for my resolutions :) Here are some pics I took about 2 weeks ago when I was still in the US when I went to hang out with one of my BFF's from HU. Hope you enjoy :)

Thermal: Gift via the Gap/ Shirt: Found in the basement of my dorm / Boots: Uggs

Enjoy your weekends :)

Uni Life gets real

Hello Loves,

I know I have been away for so long. Unfortunately, I don't have anything for you today. My life has been too hectic. I have midterms at my Uni in London for the next two weeks. 3 this week and 1 next week. I also have this assignment due the week after next. So as you can see my life has been extremely busy. I told myself no more procrastination, but of course I did and not it is hitting me harshly. Hopefully within the next couple of days after my first 3 I can bring you something wonderful. Thanks for sticking with me again.
